How to join a new team - 15 tips

1. On the first day, try to write down all the names of employees and clarify what they are doing. So it will be easier to decide who to ask the question.

2. Go to dinner with the team, listen to what and in what tone they are talking. If possible, tell about yourself, support conversations "about nothing."

3. Try to adhere to a collective preference for clothes, even if there is no strict dress code. If employees prefer to wear jeans and sweaters, don’t wear a classic suit and vice versa.

4. Show that you are a good worker. Try to learn as much as possible about the features of the work, offer assistance in solving a complex problem. But at the same time, do not forget that you should not perform other people's duties. Otherwise, your colleagues will hang on to you.

5. From time to time, come to the boss and ask about your own successes - does everything suit him, are there any wishes. Of course, you should not be imposed every day. It is best to ask after the first week, then after a month, and after another 3 months.

6. Do not show off your colleagues professional skills. When solving a problem, moderate your opinion, do not propagate radical ideas and do not start to convince others of your innocence.

7. Ask about everything that you do not understand. The main advice for beginners at work "Do not know - ask." The employer and colleagues are aware that you cannot immediately know everything about the work process. Therefore, do not be shy to ask even the most stupid questions - this is better than then making serious mistakes out of ignorance.

8. Behave naturally. For example, do not try to joke if you have never been a joker before. Do not forget about courtesy and friendliness, answer with a smile and interest.

9. Keep neutral in dispute resolution. Do not get on either side. This may entail a negative attitude of the "warring" side.

10. Do not be interested in the personal lives of colleagues and do not ask “unnecessary” questions. Still, work is work.

11. State your thoughts clearly and clearly. New colleagues do not yet understand you perfectly, like family or friends. Therefore, approaching with a request, behave calmly, if possible, formulate a phrase in advance and speak it to yourself.

12. In a non-standard and disturbing situation, try not to show emotions. Be calm as much as possible, and better, take your head in drawing up a plan. It is proved that employees who can adapt to new conditions quickly join the team.

13. Follow the traditions of the team. If all the staff gather on Fridays in the kitchen and celebrate the successful end of the work week, don’t go home behind the scenes, stay and have fun. Even if you do not like noisy companies.

14. Enlist the support of senior staff. Such an acquaintance is always useful for newcomers - an experienced worker will not only help you figure it out, but also support you in difficult times. You can always tell such a person about worries about work, and he will introduce the rest of the team.

15. The fact that you are not taken seriously, although you have worked at the company for several months, is normal. Colleagues look closely, decide if you can be trusted. Especially if all the other employees have worked in the company for many years - for them you will remain a newbie for a long time.
